 The Current Plot
« Thread Started on Jul 31, 2006, 11:14pm »

Numenya’s great change wouldn’t be from Kamon or even Makau, but rather from the Alpha – Anmoch and a rogue to the pack, Mercarian. A week had passed since Mercarian and Anmoch’s last nearly brutal encounter, the two nearly going at one another but Mercarian able to slip by unharmed. Luck once more favored the reclusive, and now trying to do right, Mercarian.

Anmoch, frustrated and bitter over the rumors of his perfect mate, Tuaileas, and the constant taunting from Raven and Mercarian was glad when they left, but now that they were back? The frustration, the anger, all of it came back to him. He was deadly before but now? He was a loose cannon ready to blow – the mere mention of Mercarian would, more or less, set him off. Or at least, it would in time. The once kinder, docile, Anmoch appeared dead to the world and was replaced by a ticking time bomb, one who just needed one thing to set him off.

Mercarian on the other hand went about recovering each and every one of the lost pups – Desponi, Krite, Mitzer, and Bast. Two of those, Bast and Krite, left – unknowing why Mercarian was a little saddened, but Raven – who had returned to him, cheered him up saying that they’d be fine. Sooner or later they’d be back, Mercarian was sure of it, but for now he knew Krite would defend his little sister from anything and everything.

Krite, in reality, left because he saw the whole Mercarian-Anmoch fight as a threat to his little sister, Bast, who he would give his life for. Thus he, much to his own grief, tricked Bast into leaving Numenya for the time being, away from their family and the trouble that seemed to follow their ‘father’, Mercarian.

Where as Anmoch’s life was now making a grand turn for the worse, Mercarian’s was making a turn for the better, his family back together (Outside of the two missing pups, Krite and Bast) he was content as a rogue outside of Numenya and Raven’s plan, while still in action in her mind, was at rest in the real world, wanting no more at the moment than to bask in the limelight of her mate and family.

If only the same could be said for Anmoch who was now in a frenzy to find and vent his newly found anger on anything. Algol, the pup he has taken in as his son, wasn’t his but instead belong to that rat bastard, Kamon. Though, even through this, he forgave Tua and, once more, listened to her – he wouldn’t harm Algol or Kamon, no matter how much he wanted to. Rather he sought to take his anger out on something, or in this case, someone else. Namely Mercarian.

Rumors led him to Mercarian and like the rumors about Tua, they proved right and once more Mercarian was on the run. Anmoch found Mercarian and his family and Mercarian, knowing that in this blind state of range Anmoch wouldn’t care what got in his way, ran to lead Anmoch away from Raven, Mitzer, and Desponi. Once more Mercarian was being hunted by the stronger, much more fearsome, Anmoch.

Their chase led them to a river, a somewhat slow moving one near the outskirts of Numenya. The same one which actually flowed into the pack and provided the lands of Numenya with its eternal green – an eternal paradise. Mercarian saw the river as an escape from Anmoch as, surely, he wasn’t that angry to chase Mercarian over a river? Mercarian was used to the cold of the river – even if the summer’s heat warmed it somewhat, but would Anmoch? Mercarian didn’t care either way and quickly ran into the water and began to swim across.

This river would forever serve as a major turning point in Numenya…

Anmoch, close behind Mercarian, came to the other bank as Mercarian was getting on shore on the other side – Mercarian was panting, tired. He didn’t see how he could go on anymore. Fright surged through his body and that only doubled once Anmoch jumped into the river and began to swim across. This fear was an outlet; it appeared, to Mercarian’s seemingly pointless power – the ability to freeze water. In a majestic glow the river’s once flowing rapids turned to ice as far as Mercarian’s eyes could see – probably further, too – all the way to the sea, Mercarian guessed. And, in the center to be forever seen as a monument of this deed was Anmoch’s body – incased in ice. The water from the river had flowed over and around him as Mercarian froze it and even now hyperthermia set in on his poor soul – one Alpha passed to another.

Mercarian stayed at the river that night, to tired and shocked to go on. Come morn the river had returned to normal – when exactly Mercarian couldn’t say, but it did. And with it? Anmoch’s body had washed up on shore. Now while to most Anmoch wouldn’t deserve anything, more so for hunting them for so long, Mercarian still saw Anmoch as a power – the first Alpha of the current Numenya pack, and as such he bayed to his death and in time the call was heard all over the pack…an Alpha’s throne passed to his murder – to Mercarian.

The call was heard by many, but two of immediate importance. Raven and Tuaileas. Raven was the first to arrive and seeing Anmoch dead instantly ran to Mercarian’s side – her and Makau’s original plan was, Raven hoped, complete. But not by Makau but rather Mercarian, her current love and the one she would forever love. She spoke of their life together – how she would challenge Tua to become Alpena and as such would forever be by Mercarian’s side. Mercarian at first was confused and then it donned on him, he, the least likely wolf to gain the title of Alpha, was indeed that – that alpha. Mercarian went from shocked to happy in a moment but that soon ended as Tua came to join them.

Tua loved Anmoch, she knew that, and seeing his body, cold and lifeless at the side of the river stung, it really stung. But, she had a duty – and no matter her love for Anmoch, she had to move on. It was, after all, her duty. She turned her eyes onto Mercarian and spoke, “You killed Anmoch?”

Mercarian didn’t know what to do but he remembered Raven’s words, of how the two of them could be Alpha and Alpena over the pack, so, nodding, he replied with a simple, “Yes.”

The next events passed in a blur, or at least, it did to Mercarian. Tua lamenting over her mate’s death and then saying Mercarian was the Alpha and now her mate. Then with Raven challenging her and, much to Mercarian’s grief, losing Mercarian was, well, shattered. He was now stuck in a void of sorts, by duty he was meant to only care for Tua but…his heart belonged to Raven and it always would. Mercarian took a step toward Raven when Tuaileas spoke once more, “Go back to her and I swear she will regret it…” Tuaileas, unlike Anmoch, was fully okay with harming Raven. Be it body or soul.

Mercarian looked at Raven and, with a whimper, took a step toward Tuaileas who grinned as if she had just stolen something – a sly, cocky grin. Tuaileas turned to leave and Mercarian, now the Alpha, asserted his position by staying – saying he wished to speak to Raven. While Tuaileas didn’t trust Mercarian completely she had to trust him as Alpha so, with a huff, and her smile disappearing, she went back toward the pack lands – to find the only soul she could cry to.

Mercarian and Raven spoke about the future and outright Mercarian told Raven he would allow any other in the pack – maybe even that Kamon (After all, Tuaileas loved him, didn’t she?), to take his place. Anything just to be with her. Raven, though, told Mercarian to go with Tuaileas. She loved Mercarian with all her heart and, by allowing him this – to be Alpha, she was proving that. She knew her mate deserved it and before Mercarian could say no she smiled and said she’d find a way to become Alpena.

While the two of them discussed the future Tuaileas went to Kamon, the very one that had given her Algol, the very one that she now blamed for Anmoch’s death. She was so grief stricken by Anmoch’s death but she couldn’t take it out on Mercarian, it wasn’t her place to. Her family had left her in charge, how would it sound if her parents came back and learned that she, the daughter they, in a way, left in control of Numenya had killed the stronger male? Even if by sheer luck, Mercarian had done so, beaten Anmoch that is.

Kamon had stayed away from the pack the moment rumors about his and Tuaileas’…fling got out. And seeing Tuaileas’ pure-white coat moving toward him a thrill lanced through his body. Perhaps he told Anmoch and now wanted him to kill Anmoch, that good-fer-nothin’ mate of hers? A grin spread on his features only to be broken by the high pitched wailing from Tuaileas. A cry. Kamon blinked and moved to her side, whispering words of encouragement and ‘It’ll be okay’s.

Tuaileas said but three words and Kamon already was thinking evil, and dirty, thoughts, ‘Anmoch is dead!’. Good…now he could have Tuaileas all to himself…and the pack of Numenya would finally belong to him. He could care less about the pack, just having Tuaileas was enough for him. But her next words, her, “It is all your fault!” shattered his perfect world.

“If it wasn’t for you he would have never had gotten mad at Mercarian and Raven at the first place! He wouldn’t have blindly tried to take his anger out and Mercarian…he,” Tuaileas growled, now, at her former lover and friend, Kamon. She was the only one that ever had tamed him and as such he just stood their, unmoving, listening to her spew words at him, about how she never wanted to see him again.

As Tuaileas walked away with a ‘I never, never, want to see you here again!’ Kamon blinked, not outright understanding what had been said until his mind had caught up with the present. His mind’s vision of a perfect world between he and Tuaileas had been shattered. He was confused and could think of but one thing to do – leave…

Chaos in the pack soon followed, Tuaileas shunning one more soul before she returned to her former, kinder, self – Algol. She blamed him, as well as Kamon, for Anmoch’s death. And slowly Algol grew bitter – hearing Tuaileas call him a ‘bastard’. It may have been true, but he was still her flesh and blood! Not that she cared. One night Algol settled on a choice and ran away, to follow Kamon. Perhaps another stage of Numenya’s chaos might be started if those two returned?

Mercarian, while now living with Tuaileas in the Alpha’s den, returned to Raven each and every day, sneaking away from Tuaileas or doing it when he was meant to be out patrolling the borders of the pack. Each time the two of them would talk to one another, play with the pups, anything – it was as if nothing had changed, and yet…everything had. Tuaileas had come to the conclusion that Mercarian would never give up Raven or his little bastard family – thus she allowed Raven to stay within the pack, if only to prove to her ‘mate’ that she wanted him to be happy.

Changes followed Anmoch’s passing…affecting Vega, Ayla, the rebels, including Crossing and Firva, and many others…

Vega, first and foremost, was confused at finding out her brother wasn’t of Anmoch’s own blood. While she was hurt that her brother wasn’t fully related to her it was nothing compared to the pain she felt when she found out her father was dead. But when she found out who would take his place, Mercarian – the wolf that had not only killed Anmoch but had made Anmoch bitter over the past months, she became a shell of her former self. No longer proud nor longing to prove herself. She was just…there. Perhaps in time the hate she had deep down would show itself, or perhaps other members of the pack could make her believe that Mercarian was just a good an Alpha as her father.

Next of those affected was that of Desponi and Mitzer, both of whom were a little shocked (but happy) when they heard their father was Alpha. Desponi and Mitzer stayed by his side, unlike Vega who had not only distanced herself from him but had a building scorn toward him. Desponi as she got older became more of a flirt, Mercarian saw, and as such Mercarian knew he’d have to make sure his daughter didn’t fall in with the wrong crowd, the ‘bad boy’, so to speak. Mitzer, on the other had, had befriended Vega. He was the only one Vega actually opened up to now-a-days.

Ayla, one of the most loyal members to Anmoch’s rein, could have gone either way, and as such Mercarian talk to her in person. Ayla had seen the fights between Anmoch and Mercarian and was given permission to bring new members in Numenya. Mercarian respected this and allowed her the same rights – and more – within the pack. Upon learning that she had coyote blood in her veins Mercarian grinned and spoke of where he came from – that he knew coyotes, foxes, etc. and that it didn’t bug him in the least. Ayla, as such, was loyal to him. Or at least, Mercarian hoped she was.

The rebels, a group that had been against Anmoch and Tuaileas, were still outside of the pack, but…what would they do that the former Alpha was dead and that Tuaileas, for the most part, now lacked her former power? Mercarian, after all, listened to Raven and even Ayla more than he did Tuaileas, trusting the two of them more than Tuaileas. Mercarian had learned of the rebels awhile back and decided to now actually pay them a visit – to talk to their leaders, Crossing and Firva. Would they join him with promises of freedom under him that Tuaileas and Anmoch never allowed? Or did Crossing gain a lust for power so strong that he didn’t see the need to join a pack – but rather sought to form his own?

During the confusion many new wolves entered Numenya – one of those was Aneirin, a healer. Aneirin, for now, stayed on the side of Mercarian and Tuaileas – and as such Mercarian was relived. He only hoped that none of the old pack members saw him as an usurper of the former Alpha. If so, this male might just follow them, given his stance as a wolf that tries to uphold ‘chivalry’.

Makau, during this time, saw his chance to finally over throw his sister – Tuaileas. With Anmoch dead and his sister lacking all but a shiver of her former power he could finally get even and take his rightful place as Alpha…and his Alpena? Why, no other than Raven. He could be done with both Tuaileas and Mercarian at once – but he couldn’t harm Mercarian until Tuaileas was out of the way. Raven, and the Alphaship, was his, no one elses...

And last, but not least, was a new comer who had yet to truly show himself. A half-breed with Husky blood flowing through his veins, Aelric, who seems to, oddly enough, know something about Mercarian’s past…What could this male, who was about Mercarian’s age, know of the new Alpha…?

General recap
-Mercarian killed Anmoch, becoming Alpha
-While now Alpha, Raven, Mercarian’s mate, was unable to beat Tuaileas, thus Tuaileas still held her former power.
-Kamon and Algol, shunned by Tuaileas, have fled the pack for now
-Krite ‘kidnapped’ his younger sister, Bast, to avoid the chaos.
-Tuaileas’ power all but faded in the days that followed, Mercarian disobeying her and returning to Raven and his pups whenever he can.
-Due to Tuaileas’ fading power, Makau, her brother and the true father of Desponi, Krite, Mitzer, and Bast decides to take action on them – but not through force know it would only cause him troubles.
-Vega, confused and now ‘alone’, begins to fade away, becoming cold and bitter like her father. She meets Mitzer who, for some reason, she feels at ease around and returns to her old self while about him.
-Desponi starts to become a real flirt within the pack, Mercarian now having to keep an eye on his daughter.
-Ayla stays loyal to the pack and Mercarian, both of them connecting via their odd beginnings. She a coyote hybrid and he being raised in a zoo.
-The rebels now don’t have a true purpose due to Anmoch being dead and Tuaileas’ power fading. Mercarian sets out to speak to the leaders in a hope to bring them into the pack, to end any future mayhem they might cause.
- Aneirin becomes the new healer of the Numenya pack and as well, for now, follows Mercarian. Time alone could tell if his loyalties waver.
-Aelric, a new hybrid to Numenya, seems to know something about Mercarian…but what exactly could it be?

Extra Tidbits
-A month has now passed.
-All those waiting to be part of the pack - or the rebels, are now accepted .

The sword of time will pierce our skins. It doesn't hurt when it begins. But as it works its way on in. The pain grows stronger...watch it grin.

For the record, a few things have changed.
First off, Aelric never really happened.
Secondly, and more importantly, Mercarian and Raven have disappeared, leaving Ayla and Aneirin in awkward charge (with their new deputy, Nixtanel), and the rebels with a new cause.
So there we go!
